Painting for me has been lifelong. I love paint and the delicious mischief of heating up a room with color or cooling down a corner with one color breathing life into another. Colors feel alive and pulsating, a heart beneath the canvas. It almost doesn't matter the shape or form they take. I like landscapes for the great swathes of color that live in them and the old fashioned recognition in them. I have been influenced by the very fluid and colorful New Mexican painters whose freedom of movement, spontaneity and story telling I admire. Lately I've been exploring color, light and energy and the quickness that colored marks make. The telling of having been somewhere and the going to somewhere else is a very curious journey.
